Anxiety and Depression

Anxiety and depression can be seen as two sides of the same coin.  In general terms anxiety often exhibits excessive feelings of tension and worry, while depression often exhibits feelings of hopelessness.  While these feelings are an ordinary part of the emotional spectrum, when experienced in excess they can impact the quality of our everyday life and cause very real emotional pain.  The following are some examples of treatments provided for anxiety and depression:

  • Anxiety - feelings of excessive uneasiness, apprehension, or panic.  Acupuncture is applied to calm racing or obsessive thoughts and reduce feelings of anxiousness.  Acupressure or reflexology may also be used to relax the body and calm the mind.
  • Depression - feelings of excessive despondency, sadness, or hopelessness.  Acupuncture is applied to boost energy level and balance the emotional state.  Acupressure or reflexology may also be used to improve energy and mood.
